Why this matters for APK downloads
Android users can install apps from the web, but unknown-source downloads can expose the device or personal information to risk. Play Protect adds an additional security check and can warn about potentially harmful apps.
If Play Protect shows a warning
Read the warning. Do not disable security protections just to force an installation. If the app is blocked or identified as harmful, stop and verify the source and file.
